This diary will be written about twice monthly during the summer by either Charlie or Clare to keep you updated with what is happening with the crops, people and wildlife on the farm and anything else we feel maybe of interest.

Parsley

We are very nearly at the end of our season and have finished harvesting Coriander, Spinach, Dill, Wallflowers and Kohlrabi. There are only three staff members left to finsh off the final crops of Parsley. Ruby Chard and Cavalo Nero.  We have sown Spring Onions, Parsley and Sweet William flowers to overwinter and these will be ready to harvest from the end of April next year. Due to the mild Autumn the Parsley for next spring is now ready!! and so we shall pick it for market.

Autumn

When it gets to this time of year working outside can become challenging to say the least, the weather can be cold, bright and frosty one minute then blowing a gale and pouring with rain the next.  The daylight hours maybe short but at least being outdoors means we see any sunshine there might be and an awful lot of aeroplanes in the sky!!  The farm is approximately 5 miles (as the crow flies)  from Heathrow airport and during the day we can see up to 7 planes  in various stages of flight above us, now we look in awe at the A380 airbus but a few years ago it was Concorde.  So when people suggest  how tranquil and quiet it must be in the fields picking, no chance!!
